What is realize the dream

Realize the Dream is a non-profit organization founded by Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of Martin Luther King Jr, and a thought leader on the world stage. With the help of Andrea Waters King, a global activist, and Yolanda King, the only grandchild of Martin Luther King Jr and an activist herself, they continue Dr. King’s legacy by spreading equality for all, working through education programs, community outreach, advocacy, and partnerships addressing poverty, racism, and conflict. By setting up meetings and social events, they hope to have people be inspired by the cause and join their movement, to ultimately reach their goal of 100 million hours of service by Martin Luther King jrs’s 100th birthday. Believing that “the power of service to not just to help others but also to build understanding, empathy, and unity between people and communities.”

What we do

We work in a youth group that branches off the main organization. We work with other students, ranging from middle school to college, who are also looking to make a change within their community or on a broader platform. The group meets monthly to share ideas, provide feedback to help our projects reach their maximum capability. Our mentors and leaders, Yolanda King, Zein Hindawi, and Lauren Fox, along with special guest speakers, help us get our projects to the right people and guide us in the right direction. The group is a phenomenal experience and fosters collaboration, leadership, and awareness, not only about the crisis our goal faces, but also about the crises our peers are addressing as well.
